2019 FANA Word Cup

The 2019 FANA World Cup was an international football tournament contested by men's national teams and took place between 6 December and 28 July 2019 in  Wedse. It was the 5th FANA World Cup, a worldwide football tournament held once every year. It was the first time the championships had been held in Serica, at an estimated cost of over 23 billion Valyuta, it was the most expensive World Cup to date.

The finals involved 32 teams, of which 31 came through qualifying competitions, while as the host nation Wedse qualified automatically. 64 matches were played in 8 venues across 5 cities. Niolskiaj, the defending champions, were eliminated in the group stage. Host nation Wedse was eliminated in the semi-finals, and eventually took 4th place after loosing to Llort. In the final, Aquia played Lidonia on 28 December at the Stadözh Giina in Wedse Capital. Aquia won the match 2–1, to claim their first World Cup win.

Draw[edit]

The draw was held on 4 December 2019 at 20:00 WST at the Sky Tower in Wedse Capital.The 32 teams were drawn into eight groups of four, by selecting one team from each of the four ranked pots.

For the draw, the teams were allocated to four pots, based on previous rankings and location. Pot one contained the hosts Wedse (who were automatically assigned to position A1) and the best seven teams. Pot two contained the next best eight teams, and so on for pots three and four. The pots for the draw are shown below.

Group stage[edit]

Competing countries were divided into eight groups of four teams (groups A to H). Teams in each group played one another in a round-robin, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage.

All times listed below are local time.

Tiebreakers[edit]

The ranking of teams in the group stage was determined as follows:

  1. Points obtained in all group matches;
  2. Goal difference in all group matches;
  3. Number of goals scored in all group matches;
  4. Points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question;
  5. Goal difference in the matches played between the teams in question;
  6. Number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question;
  7. Fair play points in all group matches (only one deduction could be applied to a player in a single match): Template:Unordered list
