Ulikana Desidé Oinoche 1 (Ulikan Cyrillic: Уликана Десидё Оиноче 1, Everish: Ulikana Decides Tonight 1), often shorted to U.D.O. 1 is the inaugural edition of the song competition organised by Ulikan public broadcaster Ulyck Radio and Television (URTV) to determine the act representing the union of councils at the twenty-fifth Fantasia Contest.
The format consisted of a single-round final with thirteen entries. The final presentation show was held on 22 June 2021, while the results show was held on 27 June 2021. Lianne La Havas won the edition with the song "Bittersweet", with 108 points, twenty points ahead of the runner-up. She failed to qualify for the final at the Fantasia Contest, placing thirteenth out of fifteen entries in the second semi-final with a total of 76 points.
Background[edit]
Ulikan broadcaster URTV (Ulyck Radio and Television) had originally planned to hold a national selection for its first participation at the F.C. last edition, but due to the last-minute confirmation of an Ulikan act, a selection couldn't be held in time. Therefore, URTV began planning for U.D.O. to premiere prior to FC 25.
An official announcement was made on 5 May 2021 on all social media platforms calling for submissions to the selection with a deadline of 25 May 2021. Out of hundreds of submissions, it was determined that 167 submissions fell in line with the rules of both U.D.O. and F.C. and were therefore eligible for participation. On 27 May 2021, alongside the press release confirming Ulikana's participation in F.C. 25, URTV announced that the songs to compete in U.D.O. had been selected. This announcement met disdain amongst fanatics of the contest, as many worried that the competing artists were picked too quickly or that favoritism played a role in the selection process. Nonetheless, the competing artists were announced on 6 June 2021, with their songs being revealed on the night of the competition.
