Lanovina (Lanovian: Lanovina) officially Republic of Lanovina (Lanovian: Republik av Lanovina) is a sovereign state in the north of Wulfor. It covers an area of 405,707 square kilometres and is inhabitated by approximately 12,171,196 inhabitants. Its capital is Cöhln and the largest city is Sarindon. Lanovina is part of the Northern Union and hosts the NU parliament in the city of Ostmont, therefore serving as the de facto NU capital.

Politics[edit]

Lanovina is a federal parliamentary republic. The current Head of Government of Lanovina (the Chancellor) is Helga Stoll-Escherpes (Green Party), first elected in 2017 and currently leading a minority government of the Green Party and the social-democratic Progressive Alliance, receiving confidence and supply from the left-wing TSL and the Choli minority party CMM. The opposition currently consists of the conservative CCU, the agrarian-centrist ACP and the liberal LP. The Lanovian legislature is known as the Parlament and is divided into two chambers: Bundesrat and Bundestag.

Prior to 2021, the President of Lanovina was the President of the Bundesrat (the upper legislative body that represents the 13 states) and therefore one of the State Presidents. As the President of the Bundesrat changed every year, the President of Lanovina did too. However, the current government changed this system and in 2021, the Lanovian public was able to vote in its first presidential election, which was narrowly won by former Chancellor Uschi Kerkeling (Green Party).
