After Wedse was granted Independence by the UN, they played their first match against Jarea on 11 December 2018. The team's biggest success on the world stage was reaching the semi-finals in the 2019 FANA World Cup, which also marked the countries first ever time hosting an International tournament/competition.

As the host nation, Wedse automatically qualified for 2019 FANA World Cup. The following year, Wedse qualified for 2020 FANA World Cup. This marked the third consecutive time that Wedse featured in a World Cup
