Fyor (Fyoric: Fiyir) officially Republic of Fyor (Fyoric: Respubliko de Fiyir) is a sovereign state in the north of Sakoda. It covers an area of TBA square kilometres and is inhabited by approximately TBA inhabitants. Its capital and largest city is Kailo.

Politics

Fyor is a unitary semi-presidential republic. The current President in office is TBA. The current head of government is Nikolao Aleĉjo. The Fyorian legislature is the Parliament, divided into the Presidential Cabinet and Parlamento de Fyor. If a bill passes parliament, it will go to the presidential cabinet (basically an upper house). Which contains the president and 10 advisers. The final decision if it will become law will be made here and if the bill passes it becomes law, if it doesn't then parliament can't do anything about it but try again or amend it.

Social Policies and Laws

General

  • You become a legal adult at age 18.
  • You can obtain a driver's license at age 17.
  • The age of consent is 18.
  • The legal age of marriage is 18.
  • Capital punishment is used but rarely carried out.
  • Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide are illegal.
  • Pornography is legal with age restriction.
  • Gambling is legal with age restriction.

Suffrage

  • The legal voting age is 16.
  • People of all Genders, Religions, Social Classes, and Education level have the right to vote.
  • Individuals are required to be citizens to vote.
  • Those with criminal records are permitted to vote.
  • One must be 18 years old to run for public office.

Gun laws

  • In Fyor, any eligible citizen is able to obtain a weapon. The legal age is 14.
  • People must complete a practical and written exam to obtain a license, the course can be taken from age 11. A person below the age of 10 can not use a weapon unless in extraordinary circumstances. A person age 11-13 can use a parent's or grandparent's weapon with their consent.

Drug laws

  • Alcohol (<15% by volume) is legal and restricted for those 18 years and older.
  • Alcohol (>15% by volume) is legal and restricted for those 18 years and older.
  • Nicotine and Tobacco products are legal for medicinal use only.
  • Cannabis is legal for medicinal use only.

Abortion laws

  • In Fyor, abortion is illegal and is not accepted by the highly religious populace.

LGBT rights

  • Same sex activity is legal in Fyor, but the LGBT community can face wide prejudice. Some movements do exist.
  • The age of consent for same sex intercourse is the same as heterosexual intercourse.
  • The LGBT community has the freedom of expression.
  • LGB people are permitted to serve in the armed forces. Trans people are not permitted.
  • The LGBT community is protected by law from discrimination in some areas such as employment and housing.
  • The LGBT community have no rights to marry or enter into partnerships, but foreign marriages are recognized. Adoption is banned by law.
  • HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and sex reassignment surgery are legal, but there is no way to change your legal gender.

Military

  • Approximately 0-0.9% of Fyor's GDP is spent on the military annually.
  • Conscription is enforced but alternative service available. Both men and women are conscripted.
  • Conscription is enforced for 3 'important services' - Lifeguard, Military and Mountain Rescue. Everyone is required to complete at least 2 weeks of each service but will have to choose which one to serve for a full 10 week period. Conscription is not enforced for people who do not have both a Fyorian passport and citizenship, or people who are deemed not fit or healthy enough. Conscription begins at age 17 where a temporary halt is put on education for 16 weeks, after conscription is over every conscript returns to education and has the option to return to a service after finishing their education.

Freedom of Speech

  • Freedom of speech is granted to all citizens constitutionally.
  • It is legal to criticize the government.
  • Online speech falls under Freedom of Speech.
  • Laws concerning hate speech do not exist.
  • Laws concerning the incitement of violence do not exist.
  • The press is considered as completely free.
  • There is heavy censorship online by the government.
