Dýria is a unitary parliamentary republic. The current President in office is Ingibjörg Egilsdóttir, elected in 2016, and is currently serving her 1st term as president. She will be eligible to run for a second term in 2021.
 
The current Taoiseach (Irsan for ''Prime Minister'') in power is Sinéad Kýosdóttir, who is athe memberleader of the Dýrian Democratic Party, which currently holds the most seats for one single party in the Alþingi. The president is able to appoint the Tánaiste (Irsan for ''Deputy Prime Minister'') on the advice of the Taoiseach. The current Tánaiste is Caitríona Arnarsdóttir, athe memberleader of the second most powerful party, An Comhaontas Glas, or the Greens in Everish. Both the Dýrian Democratic Party and An Comhaontas Glas are currently in a coalition government. The Dýrian legislature is the Alþingi, which has 90 seats available. The current leader of the opposition is Elín Gunnlaugursdóttir, the leader of Sjølandiskt Framtíð.
 
Elections are typically held every 4 years, however in certain circumstances, snap elections may be held. The next election is scheduled to be held in 2021, due to some controversies which occured over the Christmas period in 2020.
