Ninelie (Nineliese and Hydean: Ninelie) officially Kingdom of Ninelie (Nineliese: Regno di Ninelie, Hydean: Ninerī ōkoku) is a sovereign state in the south of Sakoda. It covers an area of 187,229 square kilometres and is inhabitated by approximately 8,612,516 inhabitants. Its capital and largest city is Viano.

History

Roots of Ninelie

Nation of Ninelie dates back to 11th century when Lakadamian and Glaraian traders wanted to visit the South Sakodan land for Trade partners. Back there, they came across the small settlements which didn't have any relations between each others. They mostly fished and did minor trade inside and outside their arena of the items they collected. They believed in the same religion but divided and every settlement being some form of a village was ruled by a noble man believed to be derived from the gods themselves because he built the temple for them to pra to. They controlled the work of the peasants and organized minor feudal plantations that they have given to people close to them. Most locals were near starvation resulted by low activity outside of the land.

The Lakadamian and Glarian traders who were accepted by the landlords spotted that the locals apart similarity in their beliefs also have similarity in language. It was a language that derived from Premerliese and was close to Glaraian and Lakadamian (more to Glaraian)> Traders knowing the fact that these lands would be easy to manipulate, they started giving them resources and they started influencing them with their culture and ways of living (rhetorical speech and literature being the most important cultural inheritance). By that they started gaining more influence of people which made landlords slowly starting to lose it.

All the new knowledge also gave birth to 3rd group of people, poets who began their work in the North-Eastern Ninelie. In the city of Verno they formed the first Nineliese Academy for Art and Science in 1210. Philosophy and Literature started to bloom and with that the National Identity. Many poets started to go from castle to castle, residing and writing in them helping landlords have more influence on their people. Vernian philosophers wanted to form the first polis, a community, the society. They wanted to make a state where all 3 can coexist. They got this idea from Lakadamian poets which spark the idea of identity. Thus around 1250's they formed the fist nineliese commune, Viano, Viano existed so that influential noblesmen can lead the country, traders exist and have their power too and artists and philosophers can quietly exist in the area as well. They also wanted to let people who were starving to unite. Those they started to build something to connect majority of people in the area. The Viano was build on a lagoon and a Great Cannon. This gave Viano a huge trading and settlement advantage making it soon become the strongest unit in the area. It united the land not by force but by influence. Of course not everyone can be in favor. Gherardo II Of Valvet had a large influence on northern Ninelie, they had large armored forced and threatened both states around them and traders to conquer and kick them out. That made Viano and other states form a coalition against it in village Nouvellie which they later related their coalition as. Viano used the power of the people and made large amount of Ninelie join them with the power of Permiliese and knowledge. The idea and will of a unified Ninelie under 1 language was stronger than Valvet's force. War waged for 39 years when finally in 1370, Nineliese coalition beat Gherardo's army and conquered, liberated The states of the East and North (modern Gotica) and conquered Valvet. The coalition made other nations unified for a while but also give the national identity of its people which poets always wanted to happen. Viano formed the Nineliese pact creating what's known today as Ninelie. The National Identity and formation of Ninilie form a way to more Lakadamian ideas. The period of the rebirth of culture and nature, The Renaissance at the start of 15th Century.

The Period of Renaissance

The new found state made the room for exploring the nature more. That gave the idea of the new ideas and international influences. Lakadamian culture, literature created what is today known as Renaissance, or Rebirth. Ninelie was suddently inspired by ancient works of art and philosophy. The birth of this era can considered between 1400 and 1417 in Viano. This period also meant the rise of the Humanism and human rights. The people started respecting their own bodies and minds but also accepting other ways of living. Human Rights started to really bloom.

in that period, Viano who was mainly ruled by 6 people has suffered from inconsistency of its rulers. Many conflicts were held and thus Viano has fallen into chaos in the 14th century. Lorenzo da Goth from Gotica who was heavily supported by Vernian Academy moved to Viano. As a big nobleman from Gotica, who was also the Professor of the Verno university had a lot of support. He also married the daughter of the famous Trading Guilt in Ninelie and thus was able to take the power. Of course many wanted him dead, especially his opposition but he was able to see through all of their plans. He soon decided to declare himself as the first King of Ninelie, the king of the people. Rich nobles didn't really like the 1 king as they thought it would lower their influence but the Vincenzo was able to change their minds. His Wife being the daughter of the biggest tradesman, Vincenzo was able to create a decent economy for the city, have advisors that are from the nobles and form a respectful kingdom and dynasty that will last till modern days. The Famous Regoth Chappel was also built on this period for the King but its final touches will be done way later. Touches that made Regoth Chappel a beautifull structure that's known today.

Gothic Period

With the period of the Goth, came the power of Gotica. Unlike Renaissance, Gotica paid more detail to the religion and tradition. Gotica becoming the more religion and conservative region was the key of this element. in the 1470's the influence became the temples and churches dedicated to Hecate and other gods. Viano also got hit by the movement where famous church Santa Hecate del Fiore got built. Emilia who thanks to its textile industry became more powerful. It rivaled even Viano at times. It certainly became the center of the movement. In other parts of Gotica, the national stories of Hecate and the Harrowing started to be written and horror and mythology became popular. Lusienne became the capital of the relgion, having over 350 temples and churches being built during this period. Emo/Goth culture started to arise and made Emilia the fashion center of Ninelie that it is today. This period lasted till end of 17th century where Ninelie officially became the member of the Lakadamian empire.

During this period at the beginning of 17th century. Tensions with local nations began. Hyde who was culturally and ethnically different started to wage war and rampage on North of Ninelie. This resulted in a tension in 1630's that lasted for 15 years. Tension resulted in a way 1645 that was crucial to Ninelie. Ninelie was able to beat Hydean army and conquer its land. Hyde became an official member of Ninelie in 1655. Hydeans were considered a threat to Ninelie from then till the days of Lakadamia. Even tho their relations are improving to this day, there are still tensions between Hydeans and Nineliese people.

Politics

Ninelie is a unitary constitutional monarchy. The current monarch is Elisa di Goth. The current head of government is Valfredo Sortini. The Nineliese legislature is the Parliament, divided into the Senate and Chamber of Deputies.

General

• You become a legal adult at age 18.
• You can obtain a driver's license at age 17.
• The age of consent is 16.
• The legal age of marriage is 17.
• Capital punishment is forbidden.
• Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide are legal.
• Pornography is legal with age restriction.
• Gambling is legal with age restriction.

Suffrage

• The legal voting age is 18.
• People of all Genders, Races, Religions, Social Classes, and Education level have the right to vote.
• Individuals are required to be citizens to vote.
• Those with criminal records are not permitted to vote.
• One must be 18 years old to run for public office.

Gun laws

In Ninelie, it is not possible for anyone to purchase a gun for any reason.

Drug laws

• Alcohol (<15% by volume) is legal and restricted for those 16 years and older.
• Alcohol (>15% by volume) is legal and restricted for those 18 years and older.
• Nicotine and Tobacco products are legal and restricted for those 18 years and older.
• Cannabis is legal and restricted for those 18 years and older.
• Most other drugs are legal in Ninelie, with the exception of some drugs that cause extreme harm on use. These are heavy regulated by the state.

Abortion laws

• In Ninelie, abortion is legal but there is some stigma towards women who choose to do it.
• A woman is not required to pay for an abortion out of her own funds but it's done by the Ministry of Medicine.
• Abortion is legal up to 18 weeks from conception.
• Abortion is illegal in the case of fetal defects.
• Abortion is legal in the case of rape and where the mother's life may be threatened.
• Abortion is regulated by the state. Only public hospitals are allowed to perform it and the costs of the procedure are partly covered by the state, with the patient also covering some of the costs themselves.

LGBT rights

• Same sex activity is legal in Ninelie, and there is no social stigma towards the LGBT community.
• The age of consent for same sex intercourse is the same as heterosexual intercourse.
• The LGBT community has the freedom of expression.
• The LGBT community is protected by law from discrimination.
• The LGBT community has the right to marry and can adopt children with the same rights as heterosexual couples.
• Changing one's gender is legal and anybody changing their gender can avail of both HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and sex reassignment surgery should they so choose. All gender identities, and none, are recognised under Nineliese law.

Military

• There are no armed forces in Ninelie. However certain guards must undergo military training and work as defenders of the queen and the Regoth Chapel, where the queen lives.

Freedom of Speech

• Freedom of speech is granted to all citizens constitutionally.
• It is legal to criticize the government.
• Online speech falls under Freedom of Speech.
• Laws concerning hate speech do exist.
• Laws concerning the incitement of violence do exist.
• The press is considered as almost completely free.
• There is censorship online by the government. Heavy insults towards the monarchy and death threats are illegal.
